Devereux to Speak About Her Leadership and Experience Developing a Global Classroom Model
A presentation by University of Maryland Extension Faculty Specialist and Agricultural and Resource Economics Department affiliate Taryn Devereux will be available online Tuesday, February 9, as part of the Global Learning in Agriculture Week Conference (#GLAG21).
Taryn will be engaging with participants through the WHOVA conference platform, sharing experiences about her leadership in the college around the global classroom model.
The Global Learning in Agriculture Conference is designed to help educators create global learning opportunities in agriculture for students in any discipline. The conference is specially targeted towards extension educators, students, and international specialists. Presenters are from Borlaug Inst., Peace Corps, universities and non-profits.
The Global Teach Ag! Network is housed in the Center for Professional and Personnel Development in the Agricultural and Extension Education Program of the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State University.
This semester, Taryn is teaching AREC 360: Global Agriculture -- Developing Extension Education & Agriculture Technologies in Africa for the third time at the University of Maryland. This Global Classroom course offers students a cross-cultural, project-based and virtual learning experience, in partnership with the Liberia International Christian College. UMD Students spend the semester working with counterparts in Liberia to learn about and tackle some of today’s biggest challenges in Global Agriculture. Under the guidance of a dozen guest lecturers and specialists, students work in groups to design and propose their own agricultural extension education for local farmers in Liberia.
