The Department congratulates Brian Glenn for being selected to represent the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources gradutating class of 2019 as the student speaker at the commencement ceremony on May 23, 2019. The AGNR Alumni Network also selected Brian to be the AREC outstanding baccalaureate student for this graduating class.
Growing up on a small seven-acre farm in Highland, MD, Brian Glenn was immersed in the agricultural community from the very beginning. His passion for agriculture only continued to grow through his 13 years of 4-H membership and the countless cattle shows he participated in with the Howard County Dairy Club. When it finally came time for Brian to start thinking about his career goals and choose a college to attend, he had already made up his mind that the University of Maryland College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (AGNR) would help him take his passion to the next level.
During his time with AGNR, Brian strived to give back to the campus and community through his participation in student organizations. A proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha (or PIKE), Brian worked alongside his brothers as the fraternity’s social chair and external vice president. As an executive board member of ROOTS Africa UMD, Brian traveled to Liberia with the group to help bolster Liberia International Christian College’s training and extension capabilities. As Brian’s final year with AGNR comes to a close, he reflects most fondly on his time as an AGNR student ambassador. Through the Ag Ambassador Program, Brian met with countless incoming and prospective students to show them around campus and share his love of the college. He takes great pride in knowing that he helped students just like him make the decision to join AGNR.
Brian graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Resource Economics where he has focused his degree on business management and international agriculture. Through his coursework, Brian has discovered a newfound passion for agricultural policy which he has used to make a positive impact both nationally and internationally. Going forward, Brian has accepted a full-time position with CropLife America as their new government relations coordinator. He looks forward to taking his love of agricultural policy with him to Capitol Hill and beyond.
